Should I install a bypass for the aGate to provide grid power to the home incase it fails?

Question: What happens when the aGate completely fails? Will there be no power to any of the loads in the backup panel? Do I need to or should I wire in an external transfer switch to bypass the aGate and feed grid service directly to the backup panel?

Answer: It is extremely rare for the aGate to experience a total failure and prevent power flow to the downstream backed up electrical load panel. In the event the aGate is disabled and power is not flowing to the downstream loads, please call the FranklinWH service hotline. They will walk you through the steps to operate the aGate’s internal 200A bypass switch to supply grid power to the downstream home loads. The aGate’s internal 200A bypass switch is standard on every aGate and can be accessed easily.
